Tired of Your “Gummy” Smile?

Teeth can sometimes be excessively covered with gum tissue, causing teeth to appear unnaturally short and aesthetically unappealing. At Lifetime Smiles, the crown lengthening procedure can correct this by reshaping the gum tissue around the tooth (or teeth). Crown lengthening is also helpful in decreasing susceptibility to periodontal infections and in preparing the mouth for other reconstructive procedures.

Natural Looking Teeth and Gums are in Reach

Crown lengthening is a highly effective and common procedure, and is performed under local anesthesia.

  • Dr. Arzegar will make a series of small incisions around the soft tissue in order to separate the gums from the teeth
  • Separating the gums provides him with access to the roots of teeth and the underlying bone
  • When Dr. Arzegar is satisfied the teeth have sufficient exposure, the wound will be cleaned with sterile water and closed with small stitches
  • Teeth will look noticeably longer immediately after surgery because the gums will have been repositioned
